Yes, it’s that time of year again: the temperatures are decreasing and the leaves are becoming brown. It’s time for me to start thinking about one of the highlights of our family’s social calendar – Halloween!
My children love Halloween and, although I tried to resist it for a long time, I now embrace it as an opportunity for us to come together and have some good old-fashioned fun without a screen in sight.
Planning starts early in our house and everyone gets involved in thinking about games, costumes and, of course, special food for the big night. We really go to town and make a spooky spread fit for a ghostly king! Every year we come up with new ideas to impress family and friends – this year we’re trying Spooky Sausage Roll Fingers with Blood Sauce Cauldrons and Spooky Spider Cupcakes. It’s easy when you’ve got the right equipment – I’m gradually replacing my old and tired bakeware with Judge’s Bakeware range of high-quality, non-stick baking trays and cake tins which give me great results every time.
We all love to ice cakes and with Judge’s icing bag set it’s easy for everyone to achieve an amazingly professional finish and have lots of fun at the same time. This year, I’m leaving the icing to the children who want to replace my usual tasteful pumpkin decorations with enormous black spiders complete with very long legs! I’ll let you know if we’re too scared to eat them! Happy Halloween everyone!
